Jared G. Mitovich is an incoming news associate at The Wall Street Journal. He uses data, public records, and on-the-ground reporting to tell stories about money, power and influence.
Jared graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science and communication with Honors after completing a senior thesis. He served as editor-in-chief of the university’s award-winning student newspaper, The Daily Pennsylvanian, which he led to record readership and the Pacemaker prize, the highest national honor for student journalism.
Jared’s coverage of campus protests, a Wall Street-fueled donor revolt, and the Penn president’s ouster after the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel scooped national outlets and earned him a scholarship from the Overseas Press Club Foundation, which supported his recent reporting across Panama on the country’s predicament in the intensifying U.S.-China rivalry.
Jared previously interned on the national desk at POLITICO and covered housing and urban development for WHYY, the Philadelphia area’s NPR and PBS affiliate. Jared also wrote about personal finance at CNBC and piloted the first volume of the Yahoo Finance Chartbook as the financial news hub’s editorial intern. Before that, he wrote data-driven features on the 2022 midterm elections, inflation, and healthcare for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
